Employment

Student organizations can hire both student and non-student individual employees to provide services for the group.

  • Student Employee Hiring Process

    1. Student employee being hired must complete the MIT I-9 process.
    2. Financial Signatory hiring the student employee on behalf of the student organization must complete the Student Employment Form before the employee’s start date.
  • Non-Student Individual Hiring Process

Stack follows the BEM naming convention that focusses on logical code readability that is reflected in both the HTML and CSS. Interactive elements such as accordions and tabs follow the same markup patterns making rapid development easier for developers and beginners alike.

    1. Financial Signatory must confirm (1) that the non-student individual is not a student, (2) the details of the position description, (3) and the desired rate of pay (include the amount in the "total financial commitment" field) with the non-student individual being hired before submitting the Non-Student Employment Form.
    2. Financial Signatory must submit the Non-Student Employment Form before the employee’s start date.
    3. Financial Signatory must upload the completed Non-Student Employment Form to the Employment Agreement Form then submit the completed Employment Agreement Form.
    4. Once the forms have been approved by the SOLE Office, they are sent to the Division of Student Life Human Resources (DSLHR) Office for review and approval.
    5. Once the forms have been approved by DSLHR, the non-student individual being hired must then complete the MIT I-9 process and provide background information, if they have not done so before, then payment can begin. This process can take up to 1 month.
  • Individual Supplier Payment Process

Sometimes student organizations need to pay a non-student individual for a service provided, such as a DJ or performer. This type of non-student individual is considered an individual supplier, not a non-student individual employee, and payment for their services must be processed through the B2P system.
