Student Organization Event Types & Regulations

Conferences, Case Competitions, or Hackathons

Category 3 Event

Atlas Event Registration must be submitted at least 10 business days prior to the event date.

Event Space Reservation must be confirmed at least 30 business days prior to the event date.

  • Event Policies

    Hackathons, conferences, and case competitions are always considered major events regardless of the number of participants.
    Approved conferences, case competitions, and hackathons will have access to MIT facilities, resources, and approval to use the MIT name for both sponsorship and marketing purposes.
    Departmental, faculty, or staff advising in the planning and execution of the event is strongly recommended.
    Event Host must contact MIT Information Systems & Technology (IS&T) for increased Wi-Fi access, if needed.
    Event Host must request additional A/V equipment from MIT A/V Services at least 20 business days prior to the event date.
  • Event Registration Process

    1. Event Host must have an Event Space Reservation confirmed at least 30 business days prior to the event date.
    2. Event Host(s) must schedule a meeting with the Assistant Director of Financial Operations for Student Organizations to confirm sufficient event funding at least 3 months prior to the event date.
    3. Event Host must register the event via the Atlas Event Registration System at least 10 business days prior to the event date.
