Last year we have ~8 teams with ~70 people participating. We had famous Hollywood directors as well as CS professors as judges and speakers!
This year, with the ever growing generative AI trend, novel methods for video generation/editing with AI will surely revolutionize film making for ordinary people like us.
I am envisioning this year to have the following changes:
- We hope to draw more attention from the industry, from inviting startups to participate to asking big tech/startups for funding our events!
- We will host some fancy AI for video/image generation repos on Google Colab I know last year several groups already used Google Colab for generating videos. This year let’s provide more state-of-the-art repos and technical support and make it a REAL HACKATHON!
- Outreach – Speaker: Engage with film directors, professors, startup founders, and tech leads from major companies like Google, Apple, and Meta for our event!
- Outreach – Sponsor: Connect with potential sponsor companies and encourage startups to contribute funds (maybe even secure lobster treats for the hackathon).
- Technical Support – Platform: Set up publicly accessible repositories on Google Cloud for generating videos and 3D objects.
- Technical Support – Post Editing: Provide guidance on post-editing using software like Final Cut Pro or DaVinci Resolve during the hackathon.
- Technical Support – 3D Rendering: Offer instruction on using Unreal Engine or Unity for 3D rendering throughout the event.
- Technical Support – Shooting: Teach participants how to use cameras and audio recording during the hackathon.
- Publicity Writer: Seek funding opportunities from MIT IAP Fund and undergraduate/graduate student councils. Write LinkedIn pages.
- Web Developer: Craft an enticing webpage dedicated to this hackathon. (May not need Javascript/HTML skills).
- Publicity Artist: Unleash your creative skills by designing posters, logos, and if budget allows, T-shirts and mugs!
- Space booking: Book the ideal spaces for workshops and the hackathon.
