The Purpose of the Addir Interfaith Engagement Association is to promote greater harmony, connection and empathy across the full spectrum of religious, spiritual and philosophical identities within the MIT community and in the world beyond. The word 'addir' is an ancient Sumerian word for bridge, and Addir seeks to build bridges both between individuals who orient around religion differently and between different religious, spiritual and philosophical communities. Addir seeks to promote a council of cooperation, learning, and growth amongst the various religious and secular groups on MIT’s campus. Addir encourages increased understanding of all religious and secular worldviews in the MIT community through an Interfaith Dialogue Fellowship, open events, campaigns and initiatives across campus.

The Baptist Student Fellowship is an officially recognized student group at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. BSF is an interdenominational Christian group of students started by baptists long ago. We are dedicated to providing fellowship, support, and food (physical & spiritual!) for our members to grow in knowing Jesus Christ. We are a place for undergrads, graduate students, or others studying at MIT to encounter God, discuss the Bible, grow in faith with one another and to help connect with local churches. BSF is a student run organization with support from the Baptist Chaplain and staff.

Graduate Christian Fellowship is a faith community of Christians in the MIT community, primarily graduate students, who desire to know, love and obey God better and to reflect the love and presence of Jesus Christ. We strive to accomplish this in the following ways:

1) Encourage one another to deepen our individual relationships with Jesus Christ by emphasizing a foundation of prayer, study of the Bible, worship, obedience to God and involvement with local churches.

2) Be a community that addresses the unique needs of Christian graduate students and that cares for one another as part of God’s larger family.

3) Think critically about the implications of the Christian faith on our academic disciplines. Bring our pursuits, careers, and all our work under the lordship of Christ.

4) Corporately and individually proclaim Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior to the MIT community.

The mission of the Graduate Muslim Student Association (GMSA) is to provide a dedicated community space that specifically addresses the spiritual, social, and professional needs of Muslim graduate students. Unlike the already existing Muslim Student Association (MSA), the GMSA uniquely focuses on graduate students’ experiences and responsibilities, which differ significantly from those of undergraduates—the primary target audience of the MSA. The community space aims to facilitate deeper connections among graduate peers, provide tailored spiritual guidance, offer networking and professional development opportunities specifically relevant to graduate students, and support members navigating challenges unique to graduate life, including balancing intensive academic research, career preparation, and family responsibilities.
The raison d’être of the GMSA arose naturally from the consistently low turnout of graduate students at MSA events and from the expressed enthusiasm within the graduate community for establishing a dedicated association that actively responds to their specific circumstances and needs. Through this distinct focus, the GMSA seeks not only to strengthen the engagement of Muslim graduate students within the MIT community but also to enhance collaboration with other graduate-focused organizations, enriching the broader campus experience.

MIT Hindu Student Council brings together all those who are inspired by the unbroken lineage of spiritual and philosophical thinkers, Rishis and Rishikas, who have sought answers for eternal truths.

We are the followers of Sanatan Dharma, practitioners of 5000 years of unbroken principle that tells us that “ekam sat vipra bahudha vadanti: That which exists is One; the sages call it by various names. We are a community that fosters the Sanatan Hindu philosophy, culture and religion within the MIT and adjoining community.

We celebrate Pujas and Festivals and seek to spread the joy of knowledge. We are here for each other, our goal is to help each of us discover the divine within and realize “thou art that” tat tvam asi.

The mission of MIT HSC is to promote understanding of Hindu culture and heritage, foster awareness of issues affecting Hinduism, and provide service to the community. We do this by helping students experience Hinduism through celebrations of Hindu festivals, regular discussions, satsanga sessions, classes and symposia and guest lectures. We are open to people and ideas of all faiths and backgrounds.

MIT Kehillah is a student group focused on creating a religious space for progressive Jewish students in the MIT community. We aim to build out space for Jewish students, who currently do not feel comfortable or welcome in the MIT Jewish community, to participate in their religious and cultural practices.

MIT Kehillah seeks to create Jewish space on campus that uniquely grounds spiritual and religious practices in inclusivity and progressive ideals. Our focus allows students to explore the intersectionality of their identities, demonstrating that Judaism is not monolithic but can be dynamically woven into the fabric of broader social and political conversations.
Kehillah is independently run by MIT students, staff, and faculty, without influence or oversight from outside organizations. We provide a home for Jewish students who wish to engage with Jewish culture, religion, and identity in a way that is empowering, emphasizes intersectionality and diversity, and is Diaspora-centric.
