Afghans@MIT aims to cultivate a vibrant and inclusive community for Afghan students and those interested in the rich and diverse culture of Afghanistan. The organization is dedicated to celebrating heritage, promoting cultural awareness, and supporting academic and professional growth through networking, mentorship, and meaningful dialogue. A key focus is fostering academic engagement and student-led research and technology initiatives by building connections between MIT students and Afghan and diaspora scholars. Additionally, the group aims to address educational and technological needs by supporting Afghanistan’s academic institutions and innovation ecosystem through knowledge-sharing and collaborative projects. By engaging with the broader MIT community, Afghans@MIT strives to create a platform for cultural exchange, advocacy, and impactful initiatives that contribute to the collective growth of MIT, Afghanistan, and its global diaspora.

Over the years we have sponsored the undefeated Canadian Hockey Teams (such as the Loonies), spreading Canadian delicacies such as Poutine, Nanaimo bars, and Timmies to all comers, meeting with 3+ generations of Consul Generals, and more in efforts to make Cambridge feel a little more like home. These days, we ambitiously strive to provide the best social events, supports, and professional connections for Canadians at MIT and other local area schools.
