Mission
ARCTAN, or the American Red Cross Team And Network, is the official liaison between the
American Red Cross and the MIT community. Operating in cooperation with the Massachusetts
Bay chapter of the American Red Cross, ARCTAN runs blood drives, raises funds, teaches CPR
and first aid, and provides volunteers for disaster relief and food pantry activities. ARCTAN is
run by MIT students, and its members are MIT students, staff, alumni and affiliates.

MIT BrainTrust is one of the founding chapters of Synapse, a national organization composed of student-run service organizations whose primary aim is to serve local individuals with brain injury and other brain-related conditions. To support these individuals, we organize a variety of events such as social gatherings (ex: trips to the Museum of Fine Arts, picnics at MIT) and technology help sessions. We also have a unique buddy program, where we directly pair students and individuals with brain injury in order to provide these individuals with further guidance, immediate advice, and friendship. In addition to supporting local individuals with brain injury, we also strive to educate the community about brain-related disorders through panel lectures featuring physicians, researchers, and patients; brain injury discussion panels; and brain injury awareness booths.
Through these initiatives, we hope to provide real-world opportunities to students and the greater MIT community interested in topics such as cognitive science, healthcare, medicine, assistive technology, and cognitive/neurological prosthetics. BrainTrust helps our student members expand their understanding of the patient side of many neurological conditions and also learn about new technologies being developed in the healthcare field.

CK MIT counselors are dedicated to serving our 200+ campers both at camp and throughout the school year, and fostering a place where they can feel safe, loved, and respected within a community of peers facing similar challenges.

Mission
The mission of dynaMIT is to provide Boston/Cambridge area middle school students from underserved families an opportunity to learn and experience science and engineering through hands-on science experiments and challenges. This is accomplished through two free, week-long summer science programs: one week is for sixth and seventh graders, while the second week is for eighth and ninth graders. MIT undergraduates serve as mentors and role models who teach students about science and how it relates to their daily lives. The mentors give them a fun and safe environment to explore their interests, and encourage them to consider potential careers in science and technology.

ITEC (Individualized Tutoring for English and Citizenship) empowers immigrants in Massachusetts by providing free, one-on-one virtual tutoring in conversational English and citizenship exam preparation. By pairing them with MIT students who have a passion for service, ITEC fosters cross-cultural exchange, promotes community service, and equips students with a deeper understanding of the immigration and naturalization process.

The Kidney Disease Screening and Awareness Program raises chronic kidney disease (CKD) awareness and prevention by providing free health screenings and education for early detection of risk factors of CKD to underserved populations.

KDSAP members will have the opportunity to:

1) Set up/ Provide free kidney health screenings to identify individuals who may have developed or are at risk for developing chronic kidney disease (CKD), with a specific focus on underserved populations who are at a greater risk for CKD,

2) Advocate for preventive medicine and raise public awareness about the prevalence of CKD and other renal diseases through community-based education,

3) Explore nephrology and the medical field through talks with different physicians in the Boston area, build leadership and networking skills, and give back to the community

The Leadership Training Institute (LTI) is a 10-week program in which MIT undergraduates mentor Boston-area high school students, helping them gain leadership skills while implementing original community service projects. Many high school students are passionate about solving community problems; however, they often lack the experience and mentorship to effectively pursue their ideas. At LTI, we offer such motivated students the skills, guidance, and individualized support to translate their ideas into real impact. By pairing local high school students from underprivileged backgrounds with MIT undergraduates who have previously implemented successful community service projects, LTI helps high school students and MIT undergraduates alike develop their untapped leadership and service potential. In this way, LTI catalyzes branching social change by cultivating innovative ideas. As a student-run organization that hosts ~60 high school students yearly at no cost to them, we depend on grants to carry out our mission.

The MedLinks program works to support MIT students in connecting to campus support resources, the policies and services of MIT Medical, and determining when and how to seek medical attention. MedLinks is a residentially-based peer health advocacy program that supports the health of students in their residences along with the wider MIT community through one-on-one interactions and via health promotion events. In addition, MedLinks can make available single doses of common over-the-counter medications, first aid supplies, and safer sex supplies.

The MIT Ribotones is a music service group that aims to use music as a means of community service in the greater Boston community and beyond. We are string/piano/wind players, vocalists, and chamber groups (e.g., trios, quartets, sextets, octets) who love to play volunteer recitals at local venues such as hospitals, nursing homes, long-term care facilities, and more, delivering quality music to the residents. Our primary goal is to bring the joy of music free of charge to those who may have limited access to live performances, no matter their prior experience with music.

The mission of Science Club for Girls at MIT is to foster excitement, confidence, and literacy in STEM for girls and gender-expansive youth from underrepresented communities by providing free, experiential programs and by maximizing meaningful interactions with women-in-STEM mentors. Girls work with mentor-scientists who model and foster leadership and promote careers in science and technology as goals and options. Science Club for Girls will work to create a community of MIT undergraduate and graduate students dedicated to serving local Cambridge and Boston schools and generating enthusiasm for science through after school and extracurricular activities. Science Club for Girls fulfills a need at MIT for a volunteering opportunity that empowers future women scientists, and it fulfills a need of the Cambridge community for free and educational after school opportunities.

Mission
The MIT Bike Lab is a student-run bike collective that provides services to the MIT community. Students
volunteer as mechanics to assist others with bike repair and maintenance. All members of the
community are welcome, and access to tools and advice is completely free of charge. The shop has
most of the tools needed to complete basic repairs. The club is also an opportunity for people to
build community around biking and safety, and for mechanics to hold educational workshops for
members of the community. The shop has been running for 2 months now. Currently, the shop is open
on Fridays from 2-5PM outside Building 13. There are four active volunteer mechanics, and there are
typically 10-15 customers who come to open hours for assistance.
