VA Research Studies for Veterans
Dr. Nicholas Allan’s research is focused on developing and testing brief interventions for emotional distress in Veterans. We’ve been working on refining a brief telephone-based intervention for Veterans who report feeling disconnected/lonely and having thoughts of death. We are nationally recruiting for a small pilot trial, and participants will be compensated for the sessions they complete.
Dr. Elizabeth Karras-Pilato’s research is focused on developing better suicide prevention campaigns for Veterans. We are asking Veterans for their opinions and beliefs about what kind of messages would be most helpful to Veterans in crisis. We are nationally recruiting for this study, and participants will be compensated upon completion of a one-time phone interview.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me or the principal investigators: Dr. Nicholas Allan at Nicholas.Allan@va.gov (Loneliness in Veterans) and Dr. Elizabeth Karras at Elizabeth.Karras-Pilato@va.gov (Veteran Suicide Prevention Campaigns).
If you would like to learn more about the Center of Excellence for Suicide Prevention (COE) and the work we do, here is our website:https://www.mirecc.va.gov/suicideprevention/.
